EGO

JJ participated in EGO, the first exhibition organized by the MFA student collective @201 at Sungkyunkwan University. She presented an installation work titled A moth drawn to the scent of peonies, which blends traditional Korean motifs with contemporary symbolism.

Drawing inspiration from traditional Moran-do (peony paintings), Seungjin reinterprets the imagery by introducing a moth—her personal symbol—into the narrative. Through this shift, the work explores the idea of living a self-directed, autonomous life, even in the face of external judgment or stereotypes.

The piece incorporates elements of traditional hanging scrolls, video, and AR technology, connecting classical Eastern aesthetics with modern digital expression.

성균관대학교 대학원생들이 결성한 전시 크루 @201의 첫 전시 EGO에 참여했다. 승진은 전통 문양과 현대적 상징을 결합한 설치 작품 모란의 향을 맡는 나방을 선보였다.

모란도에서 모티프를 가져오되, 나방이라는 개인적 상징을 더해 편견 속에서도 스스로의 가치를 보고자 하는 ‘주체적 삶’의 태도를 표현했다. 전통 족자 형식, 영상, AR을 활용해 동양적 이미지와 현대 기술을 연결한 작품이다.
